The Orange Cube Lyon Building Designed by Jakob + Macfarlane Architects
Tuesday, March 15th, 2011 by momo # Architecture Sponsored Links:The project is designed as a simple orthogonal ‘cube’ which is carved a giant hole in response to the needs of light, air movement and points of view building. This hole creates a vacuum, the building’s horizontal drilling into the side of the river and up through the roof.

The Cube Building, next to the existing building (the building Salins, from three arcs) shows its autonomy. It is designed in a regular frame (29 x 33m) concrete columns made of 5 levels. A facade of light, with seemingly random openings complete with another facade, pierced by the pixelated patterns that accompany the movement of river. The orange color refers to the lead paint, industrial color often used for port areas.
